We are Pregnant!

Since we got back from Europe, life has been taking off in multiple directions. We had two very life changing events occur at once: we are pregnant and bought a house. Phew! We will be expecting a baby girl at the end of May 2017. We are very excited and can't wait to meet her. People keeping asking us about names and we are currently undecided. I know it will come to us soon.  So far, the pregnancy has been relatively easy. I know that is not the case for everyone, but I think that having kept up with my exercise routine has greatly impacted how my pregnancy has been going. I was super diligent with my exercise routine of spinning, yoga, pop physique, and rock climbing.  However, after the move, I fell off my routine and now I just stick to yoga because I have to pee every twenty minutes, yikes! Our doula, Cindi from Mother's Milky Way, has been super supportive and we can't wait to work with her on the big day. I promise to post my pregnancy essentials and hospital bag essentials once I start packing. I've been such a procrastinator during this pregnancy, which is so unlike me.

As for our house purchase, we are so stoked and grateful that we will be starting a family in a place to call our own.  The house is a 1920 Spanish style home with high ceilings.  The house is the perfect starter home size and in great condition. Some of our goals include landscaping, converting the garage, and really making the house our own.  Basically, the house is a clean canvas waiting for art, life, and creativity to come alive.  Even though we are still in the middle of unpacking and organizing boxes, the house is slowly coming together.

European Travels: (P. III): Rome + Amalfi, Italy

After our hustle and bustle in Amsterdam and Germany, we wanted to explore and to also relax.  So, we chose Rome and the Amalfi Coast.  We felt like characters in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (woah..) traveling to a historical place. It was almost overwhelming to be surrounded by so much historical grandeur. I was really excited to visit the Colosseum because I remember learning about in in my World History class in high school and telling myself, "I am going to visit that some day."  Justin was itching to photograph inside the pantheon and, of course to taste as much pizza and wine as possible.  Even though I am lactose intolerant, we indulged in daily doses of gelato.  Thanks to the magic of Lactaid I am still here!

During our time off the Amalfi Coast, we stayed at Hotel Luna and fell in love the with our view from outside our window.  We took a day to travel by boat along the Amalfi coast while visiting Capri.  We jumped out of the boat and swam in the middle of the ocean to a private beach and I was determined to collect sea glass.  We visited the beautiful island of Capri and took a gondola to eat gelato at the top of the mountain.  During our busy stay, we even had time to steal a cheesy photo in the elevator of the hotel.

European Travels (P. II): Dinslaken + Osterspai, Germany

One of the main reasons why we chose to explore Germany was to visit family.  I was so happy for Justin to meet my German side, since they were unable to make it to our wedding.  Walking around Dinslaken with my fam, I fell in love with the tile at the subway station and the typography in apartment buildings.  A moment that I will cherish involves my step-grandmother showing me some old photographs of my father growing up. When I came to Germany as a seven year old, I remember just focusing my attention on ice cream.  This time, I was able to explore the city that my dad grew up in and actually appreciate it.

Another reason Germany was on our list to visit was for the castles.  Since we are big Game of Throne fans, we were so excited to explore Burg Eltz - one of only two castles in Germany that were never attacked.  Burg Eltz was stunning, and we took a tour to learn about the generations of families that lived in this remote medieval castle.  Since our time here was also limited, we opted to sail the Rhine River, see other 20 other castles, and visit the small town of Rüdesheim am Rhein.
